It is the place to go to get away from our jobs and everyday duties.The water was warm, the breeze was light, and as the sun began to set, the cloud formations were spectacular.But, as with life, "you never know what you're gonna get." A return trip on Sunday afternoon to the same spot on Tybee Island was a very different experience.The beach can be a fun adventure, but there are a lot of preparations that must be made.First, we must make sure the car is in working order with a full tank of gas. The morning of, we make sure we have everything including After the sun sets, we stray away from the beach crowd toward the street where people young and old are cruising up and down the strip, and we can feel in our feet the thumping of the bass-driven music.We all sit by the bonfire, listening to the acoustic guitar while roasting marshmallows for smores and telling old campfire tales.In the distance, someone is launching fireworks so we all stand up and watch the grand display.Tybee Creek is at the southern end of Tybee Island where sand bars divide the Atlantic Ocean from the creek. Nearby, however, were individuals who enjoy high winds and extreme sports. During last week's visit to Tybee Island, I saw the unique cloud formations pictured above.During the more recent visit, the sunset seen below made the visit even more worthwhile.There were a lot of people at the beach, but most were on the shore. One day is perfectly suited for some folks who want to swim in the ocean and jump through smaller waves, while another day draws folks who want to harness the power of the wind and ocean and sail through the air.After battling the strong waves for about 30 minutes or so, and getting knocked down a few times, I decided to head to what is, comparatively, the kiddie pool — Tybee Creek. My preference was to photograph their pretty kites. Yet, almost without exception, on any given evening at the beach you know what you're gonna get when it comes to clouds and sunsets.
